Panels, doors, fans and refrigeration leaks

Cold room refrigeration and door repairs in Cape Town

Cold room faults are not always only a door problem or only a gas problem. We check the room as a complete cooling system: insulated panels, door seals, hinges, airflow, evaporator fan motors, leak points, pressure behaviour and final pull-down after repair.

Recent cold room repair route

  • Replaced the failed evaporator fan motor to restore correct coil airflow.
  • Found and repaired a refrigerant leak instead of only topping up the system.
  • Pressure checked, evacuated and recharged the refrigeration system after the repair.
  • Checked door sealing, panel condition and air leaks that can overload the refrigeration plant.
  • Confirmed cooling performance and temperature pull-down after the system was running again.

Why this makes sense

A seized evaporator fan motor can make the coil ice up, reduce heat transfer and create warm-room symptoms. A refrigerant leak then makes the system run longer and colder at the wrong points. Door leaks and damaged panels add extra moisture and heat load, so we check the mechanical room condition and the refrigeration circuit together.

Cold room repair services

We check

  • Evaporator fan motors, blades, wiring, rotation and airflow path.
  • Refrigerant leak signs, oil marks, flare joints, brazed joints and service valves.
  • Condenser airflow, compressor behaviour, suction line condition and pressure symptoms.
  • Cold room door seals, hinges, handles, latches, closers and gasket compression.
  • Insulated panel joints, penetrations, condensation paths and frost build-up.

When to call

Call when the room is warm, the evaporator is icing, the fan is noisy or stopped, the system needs repeated gas top-ups, water is leaking, doors are not sealing, or stock temperature is drifting during service.
